"I have a dream today...I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low." (King, 1963)
This is a sample of the words from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous 'I Have a Dream Speech'.
If you currently live in the U.S. or have lived here at some point in time, your may be very familiar with this national holiday that occurs every 3rd Monday in January. This is what we call a Federal Holiday- where the government shuts down, schools are closed, and people get to spend the day observing and honoring a man who greatly impacted the U.S. and the world.
On this day many people choose to BBQ (barbecue)---if the weather allows--- and participate in service to the community and parades. If you pay close attention to the places you go in the U.S., you will notice that just about every city honors Dr. King by naming buildings, streets, or dedicating monuments unto him.
For this month's Free Resource, I would like to pay my respects to a man that I consider to be a great role model to the world by sharing a quick video on the creation of the first ever constructed monument in honor of Dr. King in the nation's capital. If you haven't visited Washington, D.C. and this monument, I would like to encourage you to do so as it is beyond breathtaking and inspiring.
May your Martin Luther King Jr. holiday be one of peace, love, and reflection. Enjoy!
