
Gobble, Gobble greets the turkey for it is turkey season for millions of Americans. Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and turkey will be a staple for many families this holiday season.
In honor of Thanksgiving I would like to invite you on a journey to learn a little more about U.S. culture and the origins of this festive holiday filled with hearty food and delectable treats. I know you may understand that this day is about giving thanks and spending time with family. But do you know how this day became a national holiday? Do you know when the first official Thanksgiving took place? Who was invited? What food was on the menu?
Take a look at the quick video from the History Channel on Thanksgiving and then answer the questions that I have provided for you about the video. Check your answers once you have completed the activity. This is a great listening activity to strengthen your skills and an even better way to learn a little more about U.S. history and the significance behind Thanksgiving.
